Omnistar Plus is a broad-spectrum, early post-emergent systemic herbicide primarily used in transplanted rice (paddy). It features a novel chemistry with a unique formulation designed specifically for post-emergent weed control in paddy. Omnistar Plus offers a distinct application window targeting weeds at the 1–3 leaf stage, ensuring timely and effective control. It combines two ALS-inhibiting herbicides, delivering synergistic action against a wide range of difficult-to-control weeds, particularly Echinochloa spp. and Cyperus spp. The mode of action involves the inhibition of the ALS (Acetolactate Synthase) enzyme, which is essential for the synthesis of branched-chain amino acids (valine, leucine, and isoleucine) in weeds. This disruption in protein synthesis leads to the cessation of cell division, ultimately causing gradual weed death.
